About That Dread Girl

Hello stranger! My name is Ashley. I am a mother, healer, and artist. My motherhood credentials are as follows: I was once a teen mom, I am now a step-mom, and soon-to-be (at the time of writing this) a new mom. By day I am a nurse and massage therapist, using methods of holistic healing where and when I can. By night I write, I paint, I create - yes, I am the Batman of art. One day these aspects of myself came together just right to form the blog before you, all about my conscious living journey.

I believe you are your choices in life. And it’s not important to make a correct choice, but to make a well-informed choice that stays true to your personal authenticity. For me that means having dreads, eating vegan, sleeping on the floor, walking barefoot as often as possible, shopping less and creating more. Crazy, I know.

I haven't always lived this way. It’s been a slow expedition from start-to-now. Over the past five years I’ve been developing this conscious lifestyle, and it is still in flux everyday. I try my best to live sustainably, minimally and naturally.

If this sounds good to you, join me! Or sit back and watch me. Either way, I’m not here to shame others for their choices. I only want to encourage and uplift others, and offer camaraderie for those seeking to lead their own lives more consciously too.
One thing is certain: this world needs a lot more love going around. So if nothing else, you’ll always find love here.

“The moment you become aware of the ego in you, it is strictly speaking no longer the ego, but just an old, conditioned mind-pattern. Ego implies unawareness. Awareness and ego cannot coexist.”
