How to Make Perfect Fluffy Stovetop Quinoa at Home
Updated: Dec 11, 2019
Quinoa is a versatile and nutritious gluten-free grain. It can be eaten hot or cold, sweet or savory, alone or with other ingredients. In my house it is a staple and a favorite, a lot like rice. It makes a wonderful addition to any meal, but a lot of people have never cooked quinoa before and are intimidated to start. Below are 5 simple steps to making perfect fluffy stovetop quinoa at home. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Quinoa
Water (Or veggie stock for added flavor)
Spices
Directions:
Rinse quinoa.
Toast quinoa for a few minutes until fragrant and golden brown. Start on a low heat and increase gradually. Stir frequently so quinoa doesn’t burn.
Add water (2 cups of water for every 1 cup of uncooked quinoa) and spices. A good starting measurement is 2 teaspoons of each spice for every cup of quinoa. Use more or less to suit your tastes.
Bring water to a boil. Then cover and turn heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Check to see if all the water has been absorbed. If not, continue cooking and check every 5 minutes until water is gone. Add salt and pepper to taste.
